Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

Written by Lynn Laird Moss
I came to LifePath three and a half years ago on the day before my husband’s funeral service. I felt love and comfort in the small group meeting in a home.
As time went on, my attendance grew more regular and my comfort with the open arms of the people of this church and the teachings about Jesus’ love for all of us, piqued my interest more and more and I began to grow closer to God, renewing my faith.
In the next two years, I suffered two more significant losses; both of my older brothers passed about one year after the other. My sense of self as a person growing and accepting God’s love by embracing and sharing Jesus’ example brought me increasing calm and lessened my suffering through those challenging events and those to come later.
Significant to me in understanding and celebrating the lives of my brothers:
“We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” Romans 5:12.
“When you truly find love for others inside your heart, it is so empowering, so beautiful, because you are seeing with the eyes of God.” ~ Mooji
At the end of this summer, while in upstate NY, on Lake Ontario, I had a medical crisis related to Type I Diabetes that put me into a hospital ICU after hours in the ER, on a ventilator and tube fed for 11 days.  Thankfully, I have no memory of even getting to the hospital. My memory starts slowly when I was moved to a regular floor for an additional 2 weeks. I convalesced with friends for another 2 weeks before getting back to Delaware.  On the 10th day after I had been discharged from the hospital, I felt steady enough to go outside and experience the magnificent Lake. This is what I felt:

The Lake is very calm and peaceful today, having shed the angry roiling the rain had beaten into it.
Its calm will be my calm today; its peace soothing my soul as I thank God for my life and share appreciation for all the prayers that helped me to float.

“Send us out as a people known by Love.”

Jesus, thank you for the comfort that comes from others, from the Body of Christ. Remind me always to take solace in your love expressed to me through others.

Conclude with Stillness (2 minutes)
