Every other Sunday from June 27th to September 5th, 6th-12th graders are invited to leave when KidsLife is dismissed and head to Cafeteria Uno (previously used for Little KidsLife) for a time of discussion and a movie study (like a book study, but with less imagination required.) We'll be watching Salt and Light Ministry's The Girl Behind the Door.
Here's what Salt and Light Youth Ministry says about the movie: For six weeks, we will be watching the film “The Girl Behind the Door.” The story follows a character named Sylvie, a girl who wrestles with so much fear, she hides herself in a small room behind a door, hoping to protect herself from the dangers she imagines outside. As we explore Sylvie’s story and her world behind the door, our hope is that you will imagine your own. And as you examine the mysteries hiding within, many visitors will come to call. There will be terrors we must challenge and dreams we must remember. There will be peace to embrace and lies to unravel. There will be freedom that demands sacrifice, and the temptation to trade love’s unknown for safety’s loneliness. Jesus promises us in John 16, “I have told you these things so you may have peace in me. In this world you WILL have trouble...you will have sorrows and trials. But take heart and have courage...I have overcome the world!” (John 16: 33 NIV, NLT). Jesus promises two things: earthly trouble...and his presence within it. Everyone has a door, behind which looms the most vulnerable pieces of our stories. As the door creaks open and we face what is waiting...let us take courage, for Jesus waits there too...and he has overcome both the known and unknown places. You can watch the trailer here. The study will take place 6/27, 7/11, 7/25, 8/8, 8/22, and 9/5. Reach out to Adam with any questions! Comments are closed.
