Shalom Sistas: Living Wholeheartedly in a Brokenhearted World by Osheta Moore
We all love the idea of Shalom, right? We know that it is God's dream for the world and for His church. But how do I fit into that dream when I am so broken? And also, who has the time? And where did we get the idea that a calling from God is only a "calling" if it is big enough, or hard enough, or if we sacrifice enough? And what can we do with all of the injustice and unrest in this broken world? We are so far from Shalom. Moore addresses all of these concepts in this meaty, thought-provoking book! Moore suggests that Shalom happens in 4 areas: Peace with God, Peace with Ourselves, Peace with our Community, and Peace in the World. She proposes the idea of becoming an everyday, ordinary peacemaker right now in our everyday, ordinary lives. She asks, "What would happen if Jesus-followers catch that vision of Shalom?" and "What would happen when Shalom Sistas unite?" Everyone is invited to join Lori Kellogg in a study of this book. We will be meeting 2 times per week and on two different platforms. Both meetings will discuss the same chapters each week. FTF: Face-to-face group meetings will be held on Sundays from 9 am - 10:15 am at Aspira Academy beginning November 7th. ZM: Zoom group will meet on Wednesday evenings from 8 pm - 9:15 pm beginning November 9. We will plan another FTF meeting per month at another time so that both groups will have opportunities for community building, conversation, and fun together! LifePath will be ordering the books for everyone! (If you'd like to reimburse LifePath for your book, the cost is $15) Please respond to Lori at [email protected] by November 1 to let her know which class you'd be interested in and that you need a book ordered for you.
